Optional Mathematics in Schools

Optional Mathematics is not introduced as a compulsory subject in Nepal. On top of it, most of the students are able to chose it as a subject only when they reach class 9. Some of them may be able to prioritize it in earlier classes. Also, its contents and topics vary from Compulsory Mathematics largely. For example, we use Scalar Algebra in Mathematics whereas Vector Algebra is used in Optional Mathematics. We do not deal with geometrical questions and exercises in Mathematics more but have to do most of it in Optional Mathematics. Due to these conditions, a student's mind lags behind in learning Optional Mathematics smoothly during these classes.


Optional Mathematics in Entrance Preparation

For a student who seeks to go into a better college for +2 level academic study has to chose Optional Mathematics as his Additional Subject during Secondary Education Examination (SEE). It is because in standard question paper of entrance examination, 30 marks Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) are asked from Mathematics where half of them relate to Optional Mathematics and its application. In order to perform better in such entrance examinations and get admitted to highly reputed colleges, students definitely need to make their base in Optional Mathematics very strong.
