In simplification of rations expressions, we must try our best to reduce the given terms or expressions into the lowest possible form. A rational term is such a term which can be expressed as p/q, where q≠0 and; both p and q are algebraic terms.

Exercise 9.1

Important Formulae:
$(a + b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2$
$(a +b)^2 = (a -b)^2 + 4ab$
$(a - b)^2 = a^2 - 2ab + b^2$
$(a -b)^2 = (a + b)^2 - 4ab$
